Cariloop Wins Aging2.0 Pitch Competition in Austin, TX

The Cariloop Team | July 4, 2016

Cariloop took first place in the Austin, Texas chapter of the Aging2.0 Global Startup Search pitch competition on June 21, and placed second in the Baltimore, Maryland chapter on June 29.

Cariloop competed against 5 other aging-focused startups in Austin and 6 in Baltimore that were each evaluated by a panel of expert judges comprised of executives, investors, physicians, care managers, or other industry leaders. The judges assessed the startups based on the quality of the product, business model and overall impact on the aging experience, according to Aging2.0’s website.

“It was such an honor to be recognized by this great group of judges for the work our team is doing to help families plan for and manage care for loved ones. I could tell that the audience and panelists really understood the problem and our unique way of solving it,” Michael Walsh, Cariloop CEO, said.

Aging2.0’s website states that the spirit of the Global Startup Search is to identify the best new startups and to give them a global platform. The campaign’s specific goals include identifying new startups focused on seniors and educating the community about innovations related to aging. As winner of the Austin chapter, Cariloop will be featured at the Aging2.0 Optimize conference in San Francisco, Calif., on Oct. 12 – 14.

Winners of the local chapters also advance to a period of online voting and expert judging that runs from July 18 – Aug. 19. Based on the general public’s voting and expert judging of Cariloop’s online Aging2.0 profile, finalists will be selected to present at the Aging2.0 Optimize conference with the chance to win $2,500.

“We are so excited to represent Texas in the online judging portion of the competition! We’ll of course be promoting the event internally but could use everyone’s help in reaching the big stage in San Francisco,” Walsh said.
