Fast-growing health care technology company Cariloop Inc., fresh off closing a series C round of funding in the spring, has tapped a chief financial officer.
The Richardson-based company announced Aug. 12 that Ammar Bahrani, previously chief business officer, has been elevated to the CFO role. Cariloop pairs health care and education coaching services with a secure online case management portal to assist caregivers coordinating the treatment of loved ones. It markets its services as an additional employee benefit for companies, one that can help alleviate stress and burnout while cutting down on time needed away from work.
Bahrani is the first to fill the CFO role for the company, the latest example of Cariloop filling out its executive ranks while adding tens of millions in venture capital.
Bahrani joined Cariloop in December 2020 to lead finance and operations for the company. During his tenure at Cariloop, he has played a pivotal role working closely with CEO Michael Walsh to help the company raise its latest series B and C funding rounds. Cariloop closed a $20 million series C round in April, after previously raising $15 million in a series B round in 2021.
“Ammar has been such a crucial part of our success these last four years as we’ve rapidly expanded our eligible member population and experienced very positive financial and operational performance,” Walsh said in a statement.
In the new role, Bahrani will shift some of his focus toward Cariloop’s corporate development strategy and work closely with the executive team to provide support for both organic and inorganic growth initiatives.
Revenue growth of nearly 300% over the past three years landed Cariloop on both the Inc. 5000 and Deloitte Technology Fast 500. Cariloop also made last year’s Dallas 100, organized by the SMU Cox School of Business. The company was founded in 2012 and currently employs 96 people, including 32 in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to a spokeswoman.
“The work we do each day for caregivers and their family deeply resonates with me on a personal level,” Bahrani said in a statement. “We’ve grown so much over the last few years and it’s been exciting to see the momentum we are building in the market and the impact that we are having on families.”
Bahrani lives in Lake Bluff, Illinois, but comes to Dallas “very frequently,” a spokeswoman said. He has a background in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Prior to joining Cariloop, his career included stops at an assortment of firms including FCM LLC, Chamberlain Group and Navistar Inc.
In June, Cariloop hired Carly Duvall Le Riche as its first general counsel.
