Since its founding in 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA) has been a leader in animal rescue and protection, transforming the way Americans care for animals. From veterinary care to disaster response, adoption programs and more, the ASPCA’s impact is made possible by its dedicated employees, who are deeply committed to animal welfare.
In 2020, ASPCA leadership noticed that many employees were struggling with caregiving responsibilities, including raising young children, caring for aging parents and managing health challenges. As employees juggled work, childcare and homeschooling, burnout increased, prompting the ASPCA to seek a comprehensive support solution.
After meeting with Cariloop, the ASPCA implemented a broader support solution tailored to meet the unique needs of every employee, including helping employees find preschools, afterschool programs, resources for special needs children, and adaptive equipment for elderly parents. Cariloop became a valuable partner in providing personalized care solutions for the ASPCA’s staff.
Since launching this inclusive benefits package, Cariloop and the ASPCA have worked closely to deliver meaningful support to employees. For example, for staff working in animal hospitals and medical or behavioral care, Cariloop addressed a specific type of compassion fatigue – managing the emotional toll of humane euthanasia for animals subjected to cruelty or neglect. These employees, who face unique stresses at work, also often return home to manage their own family caregiving needs.
Cariloop’s personalized services have supported employees across their entire caregiving journey. Jill Perry, Senior Director of Benefits at the ASPCA, emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying, “We see every day how overwhelming caregiving can be, and how each person’s situation is different. The individualized support from a dedicated Care Coach has been invaluable to our employees, many of whom are dealing with challenges we aren’t even aware of.”
ASPCA employees appreciate the one-to-one assistance from Care Coaches, which ranges from childcare and education support to help for aging family members. Perry added, “When we began working with Cariloop, we found not just a benefit provider but a true partner – a compassionate team that has made life easier for our staff and their families. It’s a benefit we’re proud to offer to our ASPCA family.”
Through personalized, consultative support, Cariloop has become an integral part of the ASPCA’s efforts to reduce employee burnout and provide meaningful support to their passionate, dedicated team.
